September 12, 2022:  Another great summer has come and gone.  The Lodge Wall plaques have been updated with all of the 2022 inspection, team, and feather winners.

September 24, 2021: The Fourth on the Fourth archive page has been updated with fresh links to archived race results going back to 2009 – thanks to Granite State Racing Services.  In addition, if you visit the official Four on the Fourth site, they have a link to a database where you can search for results as far back as 1994.

September 16, 2021: A summary of the 2021 Alumni Reunion weekend has been posted to our Alumni page.  Click here to read more.

September 7, 2021: The Alumni Reunion to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Camps Owatonna and Ropioa was a huge success.  Many thanks to the Board, Directors, and Staff that planned and organized this event.  Keep an eye on the Camps Newfound and Owatonna website where they will likely post photos and videos from the event in the coming days and weeks.  I’ll plan to have a writeup here soon as well.  Updates have also been made to the Lodge Wall and the Directors Cottage pages.

August 29, 2021: The upcoming Alumni Reunion to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Camps Owatonna and Ropioa is less than a week away.  There is still time to make plans to attend the reunion over the Labor Day weekend on September 3-6, 2021.  You can also check the Camp Newfound – Owatonna website for further information and the latest updates.

March 25, 2021: Consider registering for the upcoming Alumni Reunion to be held this coming Labor Day weekend (September 3-6, 2021) at Camp Owatonna in Harrison, Maine.  Click here for more information!  Registration for the 2021 Four on the Fourth race to be held on July 4, 2021 in Bridgton is now open too!

October 24, 2020: There will be a special Alumni Reunion celebrating the 100th anniversary of Camp Owatonna / Camp Ropioa on September 3-6, 2021 at Camp Owatonna in Harrison, Maine.  The official camp website now has launched a web page with further details and information on how to register.  All former campers and staff are welcome.  Here is to hoping for a great turnout!!

June 23, 2020: By now you’ve probably heard that Camps Newfound and Owatonna will not be able to have a summer camping season due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.  While we pray for everyone’s safety and well-being, we can reflect on decades of happy memories and growth from our collective camp experiences.  In addition, Bridgton’s Four on the Fourth road race will not be held for the first time in the race’s 43 year history; the first race was held in 1977.  However, this year you can register virtually and run your four miles from anywhere in the world.  Please consider participating and joining camp alumni and friends from all over.

November 17, 2019: Mark your calendars now for the Camp Owatonna Alumni Reunion weekend on September 3-6, 2021 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Camp Owatonna/Ropioa.  More information will be posted as it becomes available.  You can also check the Camp Newfound – Owatonna website for information and updates as the date draws closer.

September 8, 2019: Another fantastic camping season has concluded.  The 2019 team plaques and final standings have been updated on The Lodge Wall. 

July 14, 2019: The Four on the Fourth race results have now been updated for the 2019 race. Click here for links to see all of the race results dating back to 1997.  Still working on getting the rest of the Lodge Wall plaque information updated and current.  Thank you Skip Schneider for the assistance…as always!!

July 19, 2013: Do you remember piling into one of the camp vans or trucks to attend the Volvo International Tennis Tournament in North Conway, NH in the late 1970s or early 1980s?  I have distinct memories of seeing a very young Ivan Lendl (perhaps 19 at the time) walking from the clubhouse to the stadium in 1979.  This vintage film posted on Vimeo captures the 1977 tournament and what it was like having a premier sporting event nearby in Mount Washington Valley. Very cool and very 1970s.  Click here to view.

July 9, 2009:  The 33rd Annual Four on the Fourth road race was held in Bridgton, Maine.  Click here to view the results from the Cool Running web site.  Runners that are from local camps (like Newfound and Owatonna) are now easily identified in the right column.

February 11, 2008:  Check out the new slide show video posted on Vimeo.  It is a collection of photos from the 2007 summer and Camp Newfound and Camp Owatonna.

July 5, 2007:  The 31st Four on the Fourth road race was held in Bridgton, Maine.  For the first time, the overall winner of the race came from Camps Newfound and Owatonna.  Erik Stanley, a counselor at Camp Owatonna took first place with a time of 19:57.  Congratulations to Erik!

December 22, 2006:  Brandon Frank will be the new Director of Camp Owatonna for Summer 2007.  Heap How!

May 29, 2006:  Happy Memorial Day weekend!  The Alumni page has been further updated regarding the upcoming reunion weekend for all Newfound and Owatonna alumni on September 15-17, 2006 at camp.  Further details will be posted as they become available.  You can also check the official camp website for further details on the upcoming reunion at the camp alumni page.

August 25, 2005:  The 2004 and 2005 Owatonna award winners have been updated to the virtual plaques.  View them at the Lodge Wall page.

July 12, 2005:  The 2005 camping season is well underway.  Links to the results from the 29th Annual Four on the Fourth road race are now available.  Look for Eric Treworgy, Michael Vernon and Larry Wold as the top camp finishers, respectively.  The White Owl clan will be making a first-ever trip to Family Camp in August.  I promise full plaque updates to the Lodge Wall for 2004 and 2005.

March 31, 2005:  Some updates to the Alumni section of the web site including links to former Counselor Lachlan Clarke, who raced in the 2005 edition of the world-famous Iditarod dog sled race in Alaska.

July 4, 2004:  The 2004 camping season is well underway!  Links to the results from the 28th Annual Four on the Fourth road race are now available.  Look for Michael Vernon and Larry Wold as the top current staff and alumni finishers, respectively.

September 30, 2003:  A generous contribution of Owatonna slides from the 1960s has allowed us to open a second photo gallery pageGo there now!

August 31, 2003:  More updates to the Alumni Connection section of this website including an on-line submission form for alumni who want to be added to the camp mailing list.  There is also a link to the official Newfound-Owatonna site, which contains pictures from the 2003 Alumni Soccer game.

August 11, 2003:  The 2003 Alumni Reunion was a huge success.  Visit the Alumni Connection page to read more on the historic weekend.  The Lodge Wall was updated "real-time" following the final awards banquet at Camp Owatonna.  Even 25 years later, the ceremonial countdown and plaque turning was just as exciting and suspenseful as ever.

August 4, 2003:  A final reminder about the first "official" Owatonna Alumni Reunion.  It's not too late to plan your trip to stop on by camp, see the new soccer field, attend a beach council fire, and renew camp friendships.  The webmaster is making plans to attend, and I'll be travelling almost 3,000 miles to be there.  I hope to post some pictures and provide an update to this site while I'm at Owatonna.

July 6, 2003:  The annual Four on the Fourth race was held in Bridgton, Maine.  The results are available on the Cool Running web site.  Updates have also been made to the Alumni Connection page regarding the upcoming Owatonna reunion on August 7-9, 2003.

January 13, 2003:  Plans for an Alumni versus Staff soccer game have been announced for August 9, 2003.  Visit the new Alumni Connection page for more information.

November 12, 2002:  New photos have been added to the Gallery section following the 2002 edition of Family Camp.  If anyone has plaque information for 2001 and 2002, please drop an e-mail to White Owl.  Thanks!

May 19, 2002:  Summer 2002 is just around the corner.  Memorial Day weekend signifies the start of camp preparations.

November 23, 2001:  Happy Holidays to everyone!  Unconfirmed reports indicate that Travis Brantingham will be the Owatonna Director for the 2002 camping season.  Welcome back Travis.

November 1, 2001:  Owatonna alumni recently gathered in Maine for a group hike to benefit the camps.  The official Camp Newfound and Camp Owatonna website has more information, pictures, and an itinerary of this multi-day excursion through the backwoods of Maine.   Click here for more .

June 25, 2001:   The 2001 camping season at Camp Owatonna is underway!!  The 45th season should be the best yet!

December 5, 2000:  Updated the news section with the 2001 camping dates.  Also updated some of the hyperlinks on the glossary pages.  Also, the official Camp Newfound and Camp Owatonna web site has undergone major renovations, and it looks great.  Click here to visit!   We are also working on a fund raising page (under construction).

August 11, 2000:  Camp is winding down.  Check the Lodge Wall for the updated plaque information.  Camps Newfound and Owatonna celebrated the 21st century with record enrollment!  The second session saw 112 campers at Owatonna and 127 campers at Newfound.  At Owatonna, 15 trips were sent out during the second session to accomodate the demand.

July 3, 2000:   The 2000 camp season is underway!  We are also nearing our 1,000th visitor to this site!  Thanks to everyone who has visited to date!

June 11, 2000:  A new section has been opened: Headquarters .  The Headquarters section will contain information about some of the daily camp activities and much more.  Check it out today!

April 15, 2000:  The Senior Staff is in place for this Summer.  Skip Schneider returns as Head Counselor; Dave Humphrey as Program Director; and Karen Norris Schneider as Co-Ed Activities Director.  Also, a few updates to the site include the updating of the opening and closing dates for this Summer (thanks Skip!).  In honor of April 15th, here is an easy tax tip:  all cash/check donations made to Camp Newfound and/or Camp Owatonna can usually be deducted on Schedule A of your tax return (if you itemize your deductions).

February 21, 2000:  Peter Martin will be the Director of Camp Owatonna for Summer 2000!  Our field reporters inform us that the Director is now a full time (i.e., year-round) position.  This is great news.  Also, at-large contributions continue to come in regarding the identities of certain award winners.  Check out the Lodge Wall for the latest and greatest.

January 31, 2000:  An attractive new fundraising brochure has been distributed.  The brochure was designed by Newfound alum Karen Norris Schneider.  Awesome!!! We hope to scan in some of the brochure for your viewing pleasure.

December 17, 1999:  Unconfirmed reports indicate that Peter Martin will return as Director of Camp Owatonna for Summer 2000!  Additions made to the Glossary and Director's Cottage pages.

November 21, 1999:  Happy Thanksgiving to all Owatonna braves from campowatonna.com!!

October 21, 1999:  If you're a regular visitor, then you probably noticed for the last two weeks the site was off-line.  My deepest apologies.  It's a long story, but everything is back to normal.  So, keep on visiting.  Have a Happy Halloween!!

October 6, 1999: Added "Bug Juice" and "Songo River Queen" to the Glossary(thanks TC).  Check out the new wallpaper on the Golds team history (thanks again TC).

September 26, 1999:   With the Lodge Wall now complete, our attention is turned to the Director's Cottage where we will be accumulating all of the names of former Owatonna Directors and Head Counselors.

September 19, 1999:   The Lodge Wall is now complete with the addition of the Junior and Senior Division inspection winners.

September 7, 1999:  The Four Winds have paid a visit to this site.  All of the plaques are now complete!  Go to the Lodge Wall to view over thirty years of plaque history.  A special Heap How to the Four Winds!  Coming soon will be the inspection winners.

August 31, 1999:  The News Ticker is added to the main home page.  The latest news will be posted here!

August 29, 1999:  The Camp Photo Gallery has now been updated.  Contributions are always welcome.  The Trip Shack has also been updated with a recap of a 1990 Mount Washington trip .

August 20, 1999: Lots of new stuff!  Pictures have been added to the Council Fire Page .  The Trip Shack has been remodeled and now includes a full page commemorating the 1991 Kathadin/Baxter State Park trip .

August 15, 1999: The Glossary pages have been updated with quite a few links to other sites and pages of related interest.

July 28, 1999:  Small revisions were made to the Four on the Fourth results and the Glossary pages.
